I guess we are all just grey
what's your ratio?
Something that has kinda dawned on me recently is how everyone is essentially a different shade of grey. Some people are on the good end and some bad (I’ll let you decide which is which lol), but majority of people are somewhere in between.
I think a lot of people, especially in our generation, tend to write people off very quickly. Now I’m not saying some people (or organizations or countries) shouldn’t be cancelled because they definitely should, but everyone has their ‘good’ parts and their ‘bad’ parts. It is basically up to you if you can deal with someone’s ratio of good to bad.
This may seem kind of obvious to most people but I have been thinking about it a lot recently. We all have our things which make us ‘us’ but how much of someone’s ‘bad’ can I personally put up with? Where do I personally fall on the grey scale? What kinds of things would improve my ratio?
The only answer I could arrive to, is that it is all relative. Person A may see me as 70/30 (good/bad) but Person B may see me as 50/50. It just is what it is. No point in trying to improve my ratio for others as long as I deem myself at leeaast 90/10.
Is it unrealistic to be 100/0? How could I even make it there? How did I even make this quantitative? Who knows? We are all just learning at the end of the day. As long as you are striving towards something, it’s better than nothing.
See you next week,
Max
Thanks for reading this extra short edition of Two Steps Ahead! Sorry for the lack of newsletter last week and short one this week. School has been extra busy but will definitely try to keep them up.
